A Woman of a Certain Age
A study on womanhood.

How do we rebuild ourselves over and over again within the confines of our frame?

Using abstract painting on canvas, these works are sculpted to embody the tension between movement and transformation, and the feeling of being completely unable to leave the frame we’ve been given.

Ropes and fringe become markers of the seasons of a woman’s life: joy, entertainment, mystery, delight, and the desire to keep becoming. They suggest both adornment and restraint.

In 3.0, sequins introduce something more complicated: the temptation to cheapen, embellish, or perform ourselves in order to fit a narrative that was never ours to begin with.
